Charles R. “Chuck� Ross, 69, Indianapolis, IN, passed away October 10, 2012. Chuck was born to Richard F Ross and Maxine (Dille) Ross on January 31, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He was a graduate of Milton High School and Long Beach Community College with a degree in accounting.
Chuck was part of the moving industry for more than 43 years through the Mayflower family, and recently awarded Driver of the Year. His knowledge and love for trucking brought many into the industry. When he was not driving, Chuck was often fishing, golfing, gardening with his wife, or playing with his labradoodle, Max. He attended Northview Christian Church, Carmel, Indiana.
Chuck was an avid race fan. He transported the hospitality suite for McCormack Racing race car driver Dr. Jack Miller. He enjoyed attending any race across the country, but his favorite was always the Indy 500.
Surviving with his loving wife, Joni, are four children, Jon Ross (Claudia) of San Bernardino, California; Ron Ross (Maureen) of Indianapolis; Nicole Lounsbury of Anaheim Hills, California, and Ashley Hibbitt Couch (Scott) of Pendleton, Indiana. Also surviving, brothers John Ross (Jill) of Colorado, Jim Ross of Iowa; sister Jan Rust (Jack) of Oregon; many nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, John Switzer of Battle Ground, Indiana. Chuck also loved spending time with his grandchildren, Cory, Lauren, Landon, Madison, Brooke, Elizabeth, and Brennon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Joanne Ainsworth and Victoria Kennedy; brother, Steve Robertson; and mother-in-law, Betty Switzer.
Visitation for Chuck will be from 5:30 to 7:30pm, Friday, October 19, 2012, with funeral service to follow. Services to be held at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Home for Friendless Animals Inc. 7649 W. 200 S., Waynetown, IN 47990 or to your favorite charity.
